TICKET TRANSFER is Free, allowed up until 1 week prior to event (4/1/23).
✨A special weekender by two EXPERTS of movement and mobility, Jerry Lai (Portland) and Logan Ditillo (Denver). ✨
?This is a weekender on the HOW, not so much WHAT.
➡️Groundedness & Flight - Feel effortless in flying across the floor within our own body.
➡️Stars & Planets - Recycle momentum between the partnership in different constellations.
➡️Isolation & Flow - Pass the momentum between partnerships into your own body to the music.
➡️Freedom & Control - How to have a voice as a follower, how to give space as a lead, to actively choose to be in the recycling of inertia with your partner, or not.

*The Gradients* Weekender explores the rich universe in-between opposing binaries. It is less about the moves or the steps, but the approach. It presents several binaries, attempting to cultivate awareness, shining the spotlight of awareness on qualitative parts of your dance. Bring awareness to where your movement tendencies are on the gradient, and intentionally expand your range to where you feel most authentic within that gradient.
While the intensive is truly open-level, consistent movement experience in other modalities or a few years of social-dancing are highly recommended for the amount of body awareness required to maximize your benefit. You are expected to know all the Brazilian Zouk basics. There will be as much solo work as there is partner work.

?Jerry Lai Bio
Formerly an architect, Jerry is an internationally traveling instructor since 2018 and DJ of Brazilian Zouk based out of Portland, OR. He specializes in a kinesthetic and biomechanics approach to teaching, often a synthesis of the many movement modalities he has cross-trained in.
His pedagogical emphasis is on comfort, empathy, effortlessness, and co-creation without sacrificing technique. He believes these soft skills can be taught technically and specifically. He teaches and exchanges frequently with movers, including two Dancing with the Star finalists, professional contemporary dancers, hip-hop stars, and winners and finalists of the biggest BZDC competitions in the world. What brings him a true sense of accomplishment is enabling dancers to truly *enjoy* their bodies and each other while dancing.
He is a supporter of all genres of Brazilian Zouk and seeks to bridge the stylistic gradients between them through his first project, “Deconstructing Zouk”, which has allowed him to travel all around the world. “The Gradients of Zouk” is his second major project - it debuted in Portland in February 2023, and sold out in a few weeks.
?Logan Ditillo Bio:
Logan Ditillo was born a mover. From playing all day as a child, to enduring chronic illness, Ditillo has enlivened his life – heightening the highs and healing the lows – through motion. He has been a student of movement for over five years and a teacher for over two under the Ape Co Movement School in Boulder Colorado – the first Ido Portal-method movement school to open in the United States.
Having taught classes across the western hemisphere in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., he is the first teacher from the school to expand the instruction outside of the gym and into a travel-based career.
Ditillo’s craft is informed by a fusion of Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, Contact Improv, Brazilian Zouk, Martial Arts, and competitive sports, but it is fueled by a playful heart with a deep-running relationship with the healing strength of movement.
