Reuben's Painted Mandolin is a tribute to the music of the Jerry Garcia Band. Featuring Eric "Pappy" Weingrad (theCAUSE) on guitar and vocals, joined by a rotating cast of players. The lineup for this performance will be Pappy's band mates from theCAUSE, Mike South (West Park Road, Thunder In A Circle) on drums and David Tauberg on bass along with Al Reiber (Taking Shapes, The Ditch) and Rachel Nawrocki (Shrimp Hat, Cloud Turtle) on vocals, Alec Zander Redd (Afro Yaqui Music Collective) on sax and Lyle Borger (Massive Hawk, John Welton & The Awakening) on Hammond B-3.
Jerry Garcia is best known for being the leader of the psychedelic band, the Grateful Dead. But as his loyal fans have often said, "The Grateful Dead was like going to the circus.... the Jerry Garcia Band was like going to church." Lots of soul, old R&B, Motown and more.
