Jeremy Dutcher is a two-spirit song carrier, composer, activist, ethnomusicologist, and classically-trained vocalist who lives in Montréal. A Wolastoqiyik member of the Tobique First Nation from New Brunswick, Canada, Jeremy trained as an operatic tenor in the Western classical tradition, and his repertoire includes the traditional singing style and songs of his people. Jeremy’s music transcends boundaries: unapologetically playful in its incorporation of classical and jazz influences, full of reverence for the traditional songs of his home, and teeming with the urgency of modern-day resistance. Jeremy’s Elora Festival debut will include repertoire from his two Polaris Prize-winning albums: Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa (2018) and Motewolonuwok (2024). “As powerful as his lyrics, though, is Dutcher’s performance style.” (VOGUE)
