This recital, based around the Preludes from four of Bach’s wonderful cello suites, features an eclectic mix of music spanning the centuries. 17th century composers Domenico Gabrielli and Joseph Dall’Abaco feature as composers from the Baroque era, with Malcolm Arnold and Hans Gal, both notable composers, writing for solo cello during 20th century. More contemporary pieces feature Irish folk and American jazz influences and, just slipped in for fun, an arrangement of the beautiful lyrical melody, ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’.
Jez will introduce and talk briefly about each piece in an informal way and the whole performance lasts around 45 minutes.
Tickets are priced at £15.00. Doors will open at 1.30pm and the recital will start at 2pm finishing around 3pm.
Tea and coffee and refreshments from a licensed bar will be available to purchase.
