Jennifer’s boutique will host a special book signing event with award-winning author Annabelle Tometich on Thursday, April 10, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tometich will be signing copies of her debut memoir, The Mango Tree: A Memoir of Fruit, Florida, and Felony.
Named one of the best books of 2024 by The Washington Post and NPR, The Mango Tree was described as “sweet, sharp” by The New York Times. In 2025, Tometich made history as the first Asian American author to win the Southern Book Prize for Nonfiction.
“We are thrilled to welcome Annabelle Tometich to Jennifer’s,” said Jennifer Williams, owner of Jennifer’s boutique. “Her memoir is a beautifully written story that captures the essence of Florida, family, and resilience. We know our customers will love the chance to meet her and hear about her journey.”
Tometich’s path to becoming an acclaimed author has been anything but conventional. "I went from medical-school reject to line cook to journalist to author,” she said. “I never imagined my stories about food and family would lead me here, but I’m incredibly grateful.”
Born and raised in Fort Myers, Tometich spent 18 years as a food writer and restaurant critic for The News-Press. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, Catapult, and more. She has won more than a dozen journalism awards and still calls Fort Myers home, where she lives with her husband, two children, and her ever-fiery Filipina mother.
Guests at the event will have the opportunity to purchase copies of The Mango Tree and enjoy complimentary Mango Margaritas.
Jennifer’s boutique has been a Fort Myers fashion destination since 1983, offering timeless styles and personalized service. “We love bringing the community together for unique experiences like this,” Williams added. “It’s about more than fashion—it’s about celebrating local talent and storytelling.”
