Basic sewing skills required. In 3 sessions we will make a jelly roll race quilt from start to finish. A standard Jelly Roll Race quilt is about 50” x 60”, which is a generous lap sized quilt. If you want a larger throw sized quilt, you have the option to add squares and borders to make it bigger. In this class, you will practice the following skills: serging, piecing borders (if desired), making a quilt sandwich, machine quilting, creating and attaching binding. We provide the machines!
Day 1 - Sew strips and begin borders
Day 2 - Finish borders, make quilt sandwich, begin quilting
Day 3 - Finish quilting, create binding and attach it
Please bring:
Full Jelly Roll
*Optional* 40 to 50 2-1/2” squares
*Optional* coordinating fabric for borders (approximately 1/2 yard for narrow border and 3/4 yard for wider border)
Backing fabric (approx 3-4 yards of 45” fabric)
Binding fabric (approx 1/2 yard)
Coordinating thread for quilting
Batting (recommend throw size package)
Basting spray (Odif 505), basting pins, and/or needle and thread for basting
Rotary cutter with fresh blade
Large quilting ruler
Small quilting ruler
Pins
Scissors
Clips for binding
Seam ripper
Bring a snack and a drink with a lid!
Optional:
Quilting gloves
Small scissors or snips
Stiletto
Pencil for marking fabric
