The wait is over — Jefferson Park is ready to welcome the community back in a big way! Join us on Wednesday, September 25 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. for an afternoon of fun, food, and neighborhood pride. Here’s what’s happening:
✂️ Ribbon Cutting — Join City leaders and help officially open the park (kids are invited to take part in the big photo!).
🏀 Basketball Exhibition — Watch an exciting pickup game featuring former and current Dearington residents, organized by Jarrod Thomas of the TIST Academy. Want to play?
🍔 Community Cookout — Local chef T’Juan Booth from Bootleggers will be at the grill serving up hot dogs and burgers.
🎶 DJ & Family Fun — Enjoy music, play on the new accessible playground, and check out the outdoor fitness equipment.
🎨 Community Art — See the new basketball court mural honoring Dearington’s history and future. Jefferson Park’s transformation is part of the Dearington Neighborhood Plan, a vision built with residents to create a welcoming space for all generations. The new playground, built by Kompan, was designed with neighborhood children’s input and ensures children of all abilities can play side by side.
