Powering back up after a lengthy deepspace nap, Jeff Younger's Dark Matter Machine returns to Tyrant Studios stage to tear a fresh seam in the cosmic fabric!JY's DMM was forged and assembled to answer the simple question, how can a modern jazz band express the beauty and violence of outer space…? Turns out that’s best achieved by tapping into the primordial depths of beautifully distinct harmony, angular and heart-wrenching melody, sonic explosions of expressionistic beauty and terror, and having a totally kickass band. Join Jeff (guitar/composition), Jocelyn Waugh (trumpet), Chris Kelly (bari sax), Karlis Siliins (upright bass), and Bernie Arai (drums), as they travel through 2 sets of unpredictable and multidimensional compositions and improvisations.
We’re also just gonna have a really, really fun hang in one of the coolest, most historical rooms in in the Vancouver jazz continuum.
Doors 9pm, 2 sets starting at 9:30
