JEFF RUPERT – Judson’s Live master and saxophone legend Jeff Rupert has performed on over 75 albums (11 as a leader) and recorded as a featured soloist with major music-industry players. He’s worked with the likes of Mel Tormé, Kevin Mahogany, Ernestine Anderson, Maynard Ferguson, Sam Rivers, Kenny Barron, Veronica Swift, Diane Schuur and on Benny Carter’s Grammy-winning album, Harlem Renaissance.
Rupert has performed at the most prestigious jazz clubs and concert halls around the world as well, including the Blue Note, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Tokyo Forum and jazz festivals across the globe.
His album The Ripple was the #5 jazz album of the year in 2020. He is Distinguished Professor, Trustee Endowed Chair and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Central Florida and founder of Flying Horse Records. Rupert authors and hosts Jazz and the American Spirit, a nationally-syndicated weekly radio show examining the connection between jazz and the American experience.
GEORGE GARZONE - A veteran jazzman, George Garzone has appeared on over 20 recordings and has toured the world for many years alongside the revered jazz trio, The Fringe. He began on tenor sax when he was six years old, played in a family band and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Garzone has guested on many occasions, touring Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and performing with Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z, Peter Erskine and John Patitucci among others. He is well-known as a sought-after jazz educator, currently teaching at the Berklee College of Music. He has previously taught at New England Conservatory, Longy School of Music, New York University, Manhattan School of Music, Northeastern University and the New School University. Garzone has pioneered the Triadic Chromatic Approach, an improvisation concept which has his own signature in the jazz improvisation vocabulary.
