Meet Jeff Hamilton
Originality is what versatile drummer Jeff Hamilton brings to the groups he performs with and is one of the reasons why he is constantly in demand, whether he is recording or performing with his trio, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and countless others. The Jeff Hamilton Trio’s recording, It’s Hamilton Time, received enormous airplay while reaching #5 on the Gavin national jazz radio chart. The trio’s second release, Jeff Hamilton Trio-LIVE! was nominated by critics for best jazz recording in Germany in 1997. The trio’s second MONS release was entitled, Hands On. Hamilton House-Live at Steamers was the trio’s 2000 release.
Since then, the Trio has released numerous highly-regarded albums: The Best Things Happen… (2004), From Studio 4, Cologne, Germany (2006), Symbiosis (2009), Red Sparkle (2012), and Great American Songs: Through The Years (2013). Their 2018 album , Jeff Hamilton Trio – Live From San Pedro grabbed the top spot on NPR critic Ken Franckling’s ballot for Best New Release !
The Jeff Hamilton Trio's first Holliday album, Merry and Bright, was released in 2021. The Trio merrily weaves their way through a variety of holiday tunes with a swinging style all their own. Many of the tunes are classics like The Little Drummer Boy, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Here Come Santa Claus and several are seldom heard like Bright Bright The Holly Berries and Caroling Caroling. All are arranged in the style this trio is known for.
