About this Event
Jean Fullerton is the bestselling author of the Ration Book series of historical novels set in the East End, in which she explores her own real-life experiences that have inspired her fiction.
Born within the sound of Bow Bells, Jean draws on both family history and her own memories of growing up in the 1950s and 60s, vividly depicting this fascinating era in our borough — from tin baths, to jellied eels, to tigers in a Wapping warehouse.
Jean will be chatting with best-selling author Kate Thompson, who shares her passion for social history and real lives, about A Child of the East End, an eye-opening, heartfelt and atmospheric portrait of life in East London after the war, filled with fascinating research and anecdotes.
This event will have live subtitles provided by Stage Text.
