Join Jean Butler, dancer, choreographer, and Artistic Director of the not-for-profit organization Our Steps for an evening talk Beyond the Perfect Stage: Our Steps, Our Story: An Irish Dance Legacy ArchiveIn this interactive talk, Butler will lead the audience through the origins of Our Steps archival project which currently has over 200+ hours of video and audio resources consisting of never documented Irish dances and oral history interviews from Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada and the United States. Select clips from the video archive and oral history collection which capture the history of Irish dance as remembered and danced by those who created and contributed to it will be shown throughout the evening. Following the presentation there will be a discussion moderated by Linda Murray, the Anne H. Bass Curator and Jerome Robbins Dance Division Associate Director, Collections & Research
Our Steps, Our Story: An Irish Dance Legacy Archive is produced in partnership with the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, the largest and most prestigious archive in the world.
