Shape/ShiftJDT Summer Intensive
JDT’s Contemporary Summer Intensive is a five day deep dive into contemporary Dance Techniques and an exploration of Composition, Improvisation, Choreography. Postmodern Release, Contemporary Jazz, and Urban Fusion techniques frame the primary focus on the integration of performance and technique.
Techniques classes will employ elements of improvisation and composition to support whole body integration and the expression of personal artistry. Intensive participants will explore the choreographic process and the tools used in choreography.
The choreography intensive is designed for emerging and established choreographers, ages 16 and up, who want to dig into their craft and explore their artistic voice. Choreographers learn different approaches and perspectives in choreography, gain feedback on their work, undergo creative challenges, and grow as artists and dance creators.
At the end of the intensive there will be an informal performance showcasing student choreography and dancing while highlighting the growing presence of contemporary and modern dance in Jacksonville.
The showing will be free and open to the public.
