About this Event
Join us for a free half-day, in-person, educational summit event, bringing together all within the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. Learn about research advances, participate in discussions with experts, and meet others living with or caring for someone with T1D. Educational sessions will be focused on T1D care and management, and will be geared for different audiences. The summit will also include a vendor fair featuring industry and community partners.
Registration Ticket Types:
- Primary Ticket Holder (18+)
- Companion Ticket (Adult guest of primary ticket holder)
- Youth Ticket (K - 7th Grade)
- Teen Ticket (8th - 12th Grade)
The educational program will be geared toward an adult audience. Youth and teens are welcome to join and meet others with T1D but must be accompanied by a parent / caregiver.
Please register all members in your party. Pre-registration is required by Thursday, May 2, 2024 at noon EDT.

Keynote
Stefany Shaheen
Shaheen is an advocate, entrepreneur, and business leader. As Chief Strategy Officer for ARMI | BioFabUSA, Shaheen is working to realize the promise of biomanufacturing to deliver life-changing therapies for the world’s most costly chronic diseases, including the manufacture of insulin-responsive beta cells for diabetes. She co-founded Good Measures, a company harnessing the power of food as medicine. Good Measures was awarded a suite of patents by the U.S Patent Office and Shaheen is a named inventor. She was inspired to launch Good Measures following her eldest daughter's diagnosis with type 1 diabetes.
Shaheen has dedicated herself to making life better for people living with diabetes. She authored The New York Times bestseller, “Elle & Coach,” about the experience of parenting a child with type 1 diabetes. This also led Shaheen to join the Board of Trustees for Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s preeminent diabetes research, clinical care, and education organization. She was the 2011 National Chair of the JDRF’s Children’s Congress, served on the Advocacy Committee of the International Board, and is currently a member of the Greater New England Chapter Community Board.
Shaheen served on the Portsmouth New Hampshire City Council and as Chair of the Police Commission. New Hampshire Governor Lynch appointed her, and she became Chair of the State’s Commission on the Status of Women.
A graduate of MIT’s Sloan School of Management and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Shaheen was also a Division I Scholarship Athlete. Shaheen and her husband live in Portsmouth, New Hampshire where they raised four children.

Building Resilience for Caregivers and Individuals Living with T1D—Ellen O’Donnell, Ph.D.
Dr. O’Donnell is a Psychologist at MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) and an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She specializes in working with children and adolescents with medical illness and has been affiliated with the Diabetes Center at MGHfC since 2007. Dr. O’Donnell provides consultation and support to patients and families from the Diabetes Center. She also specializes in neuropsychological assessment and is interested in understanding how having a learning disability or ADHD impacts a child’s ability to manage a chronic illness like diabetes. Dr. O’Donnell works with patients with a variety of pediatric illnesses but is especially interested in the challenges of having T1D since she has been living with the disease herself since the age of 21.
