About this Event
Featuring Melida Rodas, Poet Laureate of JERSEY CITY, and Jen Cheng, Poet Laureate of WEST HOLLYWOOD, along with guest writers.
The Distance Between Us is a gathering of voices exploring the seen and unseen spaces that both separate and connect us. Through poetry and other creative forms, it asks whether we are truly divided by geography, language, and time—or united by invisible threads of shared emotion.
While our differences shape who we are, our joys, griefs, and hopes often mirror one another. This event dares to challenge the boundaries we assume exist—be they physical, emotional, or existential—and invites us to listen, reflect, and question whether the distance between us is real, or just another illusion we’ve yet to unravel?
To create a bit of chance, serendipity, and suspense, additional performers will be chosen at random and invited to share their stories on the topic (5-min max). To be considered, names must be entered at check-in between 7-7:30pm. The names will be drawn at the start of the event by the featured poets.
Please note that, while the event is free, attendance is restricted by capacity. Register for the event as soon as possible.
