Comprised of top young jazz musicians aged 14 t 20, the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band leverages the strength of Calgary's music and educational community through expert instruction and participation in an advanced large jazz ensemble and combos.
Led by Director Jay Michalak, the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band benefits from the guidance of veteran guest musicians who help expand the participants' musical horizons. Focusing on ensemble skills, improvisation, medium to advanced repertoire, and overall musicianship, the JazWYC Youth Lab Band offers students an opportunity to enrich their musical experience.
