About David Loke – Violin
Violinist David Loke Kai Yuan is a multi-faceted musician, adept across musical genres and roles. Trained in classical and jazz performance with deep interests in contemporary genres, David is active as a performer, bandleader, composer, producer and arranger. He is an Artist Faculty at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore (YST), and also works for the Music & Drama Company.
David graduated with a Bachelors of Music in classical violin performance at YST. He went on to the Yale School of Music to obtain a Masters of Music in classical violin, followed by a Masters of Music in jazz performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.
As a performer, David traverses solo and chamber classical repertoire as well as pop and jazz band settings alike. He is a founding member of the fusion quintet Lorong Boys, and is frequently called as a chamber player and session musician. Complementing these are his passions for producing and arranging, drawing from his varied musical experience.
Recent composition highlights include 3 Sketches of Singapore, a concerto commission by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra that premiered in its 2022 National Day Concert. David composed the soundtracks for the movie Strings of Sorrow which premiered at the 2019 Macau International Film Festival and Awards, as well as local documentary 3 Cents a Kilo which premiered at the 45th Asian American Film Festival.
David has had the good fortune of studying with Sylvia Khoo, Lynette Lim, Qian Zhou, Ani Kavafian, Brian Levy, Jerry Bergonzi, Frank Carlburg, Can Olgun, and Tony Makarome. He plays on a 1933 Giovanni Pistucci on generous loan from the Rin Collection.

About Judy Tsai - bass
Taiwanese-born Judy Tsai, graduated with double Masters of Music degrees from College- Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. Skilled in both classical cello and jazz double-bass, Judy is equally adept bowing Haydn, as she is laying down jazz walking-bass grooves. Though the double-bass measures larger than her diminutive self, Judy proficiently tames the “beast” and lends a solid foundation for the rest of the band, on stage, as well as in the recording studio. Audiences would hear the vast and impressive musical influences in Judy’s performance.

About Eugene Ang - Piano
Eugene’s musical journey started with classical music followed by jazz. He moved to New York City to absorb the energy of the big city, spending two transformative years in the melting pot that influenced his music.
Eugene has played at local festivals such as the Mosaic Music Festival, Huayi Music Festival and CHIJazz. He has also played overseas festivals in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, China and most recent in Laos with the Rit Xu Quartet (2019). He has recorded two albums with jazz band Mellow Motif, of which he was a founding member. Mellow Motif has made appearances on MTV, PBS and CNN-Go. He has released a duo album with flutist Rit Xu entitled “On a Little Street in Singapore: A Jazzy Conversation”.
