ABOUT GREGORY LEWIS (ORGAN MONK) (organ)
Gregory Lewis, aka Organ Monk, is a living link to the great Hammond organ stylists of the 20th Century, but he expands the music with his unique musical voice. As you might guess from his professional moniker, he has also translated the music of Thelonious Monk into the classic organ trio. At this special Jazz Vespers, Gregory is joined by saxophonist Jerry Weldon ("one of today's leading proponents of Soul Jazz who represents the bar-walkin', hard-blowing, tenor legends in our contemporary American Jazz scene." -Gary Walker, WBGO Radio) and in-demand NYC drummer Joe Blaxx.
