Jazz Sessions brings music and community together at The Venue on the 2nd Thursday of every month!
Join us for live jazz featuring Jonny Gifford and his band, followed by a special Jam Session.
This unique, improvisational jazz experience is fun for musicians and patrons alike!

⭐ JAZZ SESSIONS ⭐
Musicians who attend this event are encouraged to bring an instrument and join the Jazz Jam Session, curated by Jonny Gifford. If you wish to perform, please sign up on our list upon arrival at The Venue.The first set of the show will feature a variety of jazz music from Jonny Gifford and his band. Musicians wishing to perform will then be fit into the jam session performance during the second set of the show.
⭐ JONNY GIFFORD ⭐
From an early age, drummer Jonny Gifford has been around a wide array of sounds. Whether it be the Bee Gees or Doobie Brothers from his dad, Dave Brubeck and Nickel Creek from his mom, Backstreet Boys and Blink-182 from his sister, or the 8-bit melodies from his precious Game Boy, Jonny has nurtured a love for all kinds of music.
Originally from Central Massachusetts, Jonny made his way to Northern Illinois University. There, he had the privilege of studying with fantastic professors and musicians such as Mike Mixtacki, Gregory Beyer, Cliff Alexis, Liam Teague, Robert Chappell, and many others. During his time there, he continued to cultivate his passion for all genres, participating in the NIU Steelband, jazz combos, percussion ensemble, and more.While jazz may be the primary focus, his love for other styles always seeps through, whether it be how he plays or tune selection.
