Celebrate Black History Month with an evening of soulful jazz featuring acclaimed multi-reed instrumentalist, educator and composer Will Boyd, joined by the talented musical artist and storyteller Kelle Jolly.

Described by legendary jazz educator Jerry Coker as “a modern musician steeped in tradition,” Boyd draws from the soul-jazz saxophone lineage of Eddie Harris, Hank Crawford, David “Fat Head” Newman, King Curtis, and Johnny Hodges. A former member of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, Boyd has performed and recorded with artists such as Leslie Odom Jr., Wycliffe Gordon, Doc Severinsen, Jeff Coffin, and Regina Carter. Will has released three solo albums: Live at the Red Piano Lounge, Freedom Soul Jazz, and Soulful Noise. Will is part of the music faculty at The University of North Carolina at Asheville and Warren Wilson College. Will also performs weekly at The Little Jumbo w/ the Jay Sanders Quartet, is a member of The Asheville Jazz Collective, and is the director of both the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble and the Constellations Jazz Orchestra of Asheville.

Joining him is his wife, Kelle Jolly, a multifaceted musician known for her expressive vocals, ukulele artistry, and engaging storytelling. Jolly holds degrees in Music Education and Communication and Storytelling Studies, is the longtime host of Jazz Jam with Kelle Jolly on WUOT 91.9 FM, and has been a featured performer at the Dollywood Flower & Food Festival since 2020. Jolly is also a dedicated teaching artist, workshop leader, and producer of jazz concerts in Asheville, NC. She and Will have appeared on stages across the United States and Japan.

Together, Boyd and Jolly blend soulful jazz, deep tradition, and dynamic storytelling into a powerful live performance.
