The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra for decades was a beloved musical ensemble performing at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Walt Disney World. They were renowned for their classic swing, jazz, Disney tunes and popular standards. In 2020, amid changes brought on by operational adjustments at Walt Disney World, Disney announced that the orchestra would no longer perform at the Grand Floridian Resort. However, members of the orchestra, dedicated to continuing their musical journey together, rebranded themselves as the Palm Beach Society Orchestra. With their signature style they now perform at venues and events across Florida. The transformation from the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra to the Palm Beach Society Orchestra ensures that their legacy of live, sophisticated, music continues to delight audiences.
Members of this ensemble include Harold Johnson on Trombone, John Katalenic on piano, John DePoala on Trumpet, Paul Parker on drums, Rex Wertz on clarinet and flute and Doug Matthews on Bass.
