About the Jazz Legacy Project: Born from an inspired moment in 2015 while teaching Jazz History at Georgia State University, Justin Varnes created the Jazz Legacy Project as a fresh way to bring jazz to life. Instead of relying on textbooks, he began playing records and sharing the stories behind the music—capturing the attention of students who had never experienced jazz before. The concept quickly evolved into live performances, combining storytelling with world-class musicianship.
