AYJO CELEBRATING QUINCY JONES
Aalborg Youth Jazz Orchestra kicks off the 2025/2026 season with a tribute to Quincy Jones – one of the greatest legends in music history.
Quincy Jones has written some of the most iconic big band pieces ever. He arranged for a wide range of orchestras and bands, including the legendary Count Basie Orchestra. He broke down barriers between jazz, pop, soul, and blues, fusing genres in entirely new ways. His film scores have shaped countless movies, and as a producer, he collaborated with many of the world’s biggest pop stars, including Michael Jackson. With a staggering 79 Grammy Award nominations and 28 Grammy wins – more than anyone else – he stands behind some of the finest big band music in jazz history.
AYJO performs a broad selection of his music – from traditional swing to funky grooves and film themes bursting with energy and edge. The new lineup plays with both focus and flair, and it’s clear that the music still moves audiences. AYJO Celebrating Quincy Jones marks the start of the season with music full of power, energy, and personality – performed by young musicians ready to carry the big band tradition forward.
