Swinging Through Time: Tracing the Evolution of Jazz
Today we Celebrate! Happy 100th: Mel Torme, Zoot Sims, Art Pepper and Oscar Peterson.
Swinging Through Time: Tracing the Evolution of Jazz takes you on an electrifying journey through Be-Bop with renowned jazz musician and professor, Chuck Bergeron. A New Orleans native and legendary bassist with over four decades of experience, Chuck explores Mel Torme, Zoot Sims, Art Petter and Oscar Peterson.
Chuck’s musical journey began with studies at Loyola University and the University of Miami, eventually leading him to join the renowned bands of Woody Herman and Buddy Rich. After his time with the Buddy Rich Band, Chuck ventured to New York, where he spent 15 years as a professional bassist, collaborating with an array of jazz luminaries.

DIRECTIONS TO JKV MAIN GATE
400 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060
Take I-95 to Exit 36 - Atlantic Blvd. When you exit, head east on Atlantic Blvd. to Dixie Highway. Turn right (south) at Dixie Highway and get into your right-hand lane. At SW 3rd Street, turn right (west) and get into your left-hand lane. When you see the Guard Gate, turn left.
Directions from the Main Guard Gate on SW 3rd Street to the Cultural Arts Center
Once you pass through the main guard gate, follow the road (don’t drive faster than 14 MPH!!) and go around the traffic circle and then at the dead end, make a right. Go past Westlake Towers on your left and then the Pavilion building will be on your left, just west of the construction.
Directions from the Dixie Highway Gate to the Cultural Arts Center
Once you pass through the Dixie Highway Gate, follow the road (SW 6th Street) past the Aquatic Center, past Cassels Tower. Turn right at SE 5th Circle. Follow this road past Gardens’ West, Seaside Cove and at the Fitness Studio turn right. Go past the Fitness Studio and Trustbridge and then The Pavilion will be on your right. Staff will direct you to a parking space.
