About this Event
Jazz Goes to Rio closes January with a sense of escape — a night where Brazilian rhythm and jazz sophistication meet. Drawing from bossa nova, samba-inflected swing, and melodic jazz standards, this performance brings warmth and motion to the room, offering a refreshing contrast to winter nights. It’s relaxed, elegant, and quietly transportive.
Vintage Noise features Michael Carter on vocals, joined by guitarist Ed Johnson, whose Brazilian-influenced work has earned praise from JazzTimes, which noted that he “composes some of the finest Brazilian music in the world from his home base in Northern California.” Pianist Franz J. Díaz adds harmonic color and fluid phrasing. Together, the group creates a sound that feels both intimate and worldly.
Set inside The GrandView, the evening pairs beautifully with candlelit tables, handcrafted cocktails, and the restaurant’s Italian-inspired menu. With its polished yet welcoming atmosphere, The GrandView offers the perfect setting to end the month on a note of warmth, rhythm, and understated sophistication. There is no cover charge, and reservations are recommended.
