ABOUT THE ARTIST
A Southern California native, Sal Lozano is a first-call Los Angeles saxophonist whose career spans the highest levels of film, television, recording, and live performance and Lozano’s playing is heard across Hollywood’s biggest screens, award shows, and recording studios.
Sal is a featured member of the Tom Kubis Big Band, John Daversa’s Big Band, and Gordon Goodwin’s Grammy Award-winning Big Phat Band. His recording credits place him among an elite circle of studio musicians, with collaborations spanning Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Michael Bublé, Barbra Streisand, as well as Jennifer Hudson, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, Celine Dion, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, and Kristen Chenoweth.
Lozano’s film and animation credits form a sweeping Hollywood résumé, including La La Land, West Side Story, Crazy Rich Asians, Beauty and the Beast, Incredibles 2, Soul, Zootopia 2, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Despicable Me 4, Sing, The Secret Life of Pets, and Joker: Folie à Deux. His saxophone work is also featured across network television, streaming projects, and major studio soundtracks.
On television, Sal is a longtime performer with the Academy Awards Orchestra and was a member of the Dancing with the Stars House Band, with additional appearances on the Grammys, Emmys, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The Tonight Show. He performed at the Presidential Gala at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., underscoring his role as a trusted musician on the nation’s most visible stages.
In live performance, Lozano frequently holds the principal saxophone chair at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, performing in major Broadway and theatrical productions including Chicago, Newsies, Follies, Grey Gardens, The Drowsy Chaperone, Caroline, or Change, and Edward Scissorhands. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Los Angeles Opera, Pacific Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and Santa Barbara Symphony.
Beyond performance, Sal is Professor of Saxophone at the USC Thornton School of Music and a Teaching Artist with Disney’s Imagination Campus, where he guides students through immersive studio-recording experiences that mirror the demands of professional film and television work.
