About this Event
Pianist and vocalist Amy K Bormet is featured in this new concert series that "feels like the old Jazz Gallery on Hudson St. in New York!"
Amy K Bormet is a pianist, vocalist, and composer, known for her fearless free-wheeling style and dedication to creating new music. She co-founded Strange Woman Records with Matt Dievendorf in 2019. To collaborate with and celebrate women musicians, she started the annual Washington Women in Jazz Festival in 2011, directing, financing, and performing in an annual festival and women-focused events throughout the year in the DC area.
As a composer, Bormet works with the interplay between what is seen and what is imagined through emotional events in the music. Through mediums of musical collaborative storytelling in film and theater, crafting lyrics and melodies as a singer/songwriter, or improvising with others, she invites her collaborators and audience to expand their space for expressive possibility.
Known as a creative playground for visual arts, comedy, literature, and classical music, The Earl is thrilled to launch "Jazz At The Earl," a new jazz series in partnership with saxophonist and composer Jeff Walton.
Fresh off the success of their album release show at The Earl, the Jeff Walton Quartet will be in residency each month - joined by a guest artist who brings their unique voice and compositions to the bandstand. Past guest artists include Nicole McCabe, Jon Hatamiya, and Devin Daniels.
Come to enjoy the music, sip on a drink, and support a new scene in LA! You might enjoy it as much as Teresa:
"It was so much fun to hear Jeff and his band play! The way they reinterpreted the songs on the record to fit the live atmosphere made it feel like a wholly unique experience for the audience. Excited to check out a future performance!"
