Benny Goodman was a famous American clarinetist and bandleader, known as the “King of Swing”. A string of smash hit recordings in the 1930s at the height of the swing era made Goodman the most popular and, quite possibly the most influential, clarinet player in jazz history.“Good Manners” is a collaboration between NSW pianist Robbie Mann and Toowoomba-based clarinettist Paul Hendon featuring music inspired by the small-group recordings of Benny Goodman. Sydney-sider Glenn Henrich on vibraphone is a regular addition to the band. For its debut appearance in Canberra, the trio will be supported by guitarist Liam O’Connell and bassist Muhamed Mehmedbasic.
Expect to hear popular tunes made famous by the “King of Swing” such as his theme song “Let’s Dance”; “Moonglow”; “Sing, Sing, Sing”; “Stompin’ At The Savoy”; “Bugle Call Rag”; “And the Angels Sing”, to name a few.
