When Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color-barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 he not only changed the game but America too. But before Robinson wore number 42 for the Dodgers, he wore number 5 for the Kansas City Monarchs.
Jazz & Jackie celebrates his Kansas City professional baseball roots and his unbridled love of jazz, an art form that got its soul in Kansas City.
The event features a soul-stirring concert by five-time Grammy Award-winning songstress, LALAH HATHAWAY.
