About this Event
Hear from writer Jason Okundaye as he joins us to talk about his new, landmark work of social history .
Opening up on the exhaustive research undertook in crafting this delicate, funny & moving book, Jason takes us into the intimate lives of an elder generation of Black gay men – from the seventies through to the present day - to paint the extraordinary, untold picture of lives lived with courage, humour & crystalline memory. Sharing the stories of these men as they share the experience of some of the most important node points in history, Jason will weave a story of resilience & resistance in the face of continued discrimination & marginalisation to examine the depth, love & beauty Black men have found in one another.
Jason Okundaye was born in 1997 in South London, where he remains. His essays & features have been published in the Guardian, Evening Standard, British GQ, & the London Review of Books, amongst other. ‘Revolutionary Acts’ is his first book.
This is one of our ‘Futures’ events - dedicated to non-fiction books that help us to rewire our consciousness & zero in on the ideas that help shape the architecture of our collective futures.
