Jarvis Cocker B2B Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip)+ The Grubby Mitts (Live) + Simon Munnery
Performing for the first time ever in Bedford, Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker will play a special DJ set back-to-back with Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip. After huge sell out shows with Pulp all over the world Jarvis makes a rare appearance behind the turntables. The DJ booth however is a very natural habitat for Alexis Taylor, who when not either with Hot Chip or performing his solo material, can regularly be found making dance floors shake.
Expect eclectic records from the pairs extensive years of crate digging; from the very obscure to the explicitly dance floor. Recent collaborative DJ sets have included Glastonbury Festival and sold out nights at Spiritland and Dingwalls.
The Grubby Mitts are Bedford’s art-pop ensemble, performing live with their extended line up which includes a full brass section. Fronted by Artist Andy Holden and his co-writer Roger
Illingworth the band were formed in 2007 and have been regulars at Esquires ever since. The band are back with a new vinyl: Valediction EP, dedicated to the late Mira Calix, which will be available on the night and a full album is due out in the Autumn.
“Many are willing to suffer for their art. Few are willing to learn to draw.” Comedian Simon Munnery (“One of the all time greatest stand-ups” - Stewart Lee) has performed at last count thirty-eight Edinburgh Festivals. He has collaborated with Andy Holden and the Grubby Mitts and will open the night with a short set of jokes and aphorisms.

About Samaritans
“Founded in 1953, we are the only charity that is there for anyone struggling to cope, day or night, 365 days a year. We do this over the phone, via emails and letters, and face-to-face in our 200+
branches across the UK. This is all thanks to our 20,000 amazing volunteers, of all ages, from all walks of life, who give their time for free – just to be there for someone when they need it most.”

About SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide)
We help individuals support each other, at the time of their loss and in the months and years that follow. We aim to provide safe, confidential environments where people can share their experiences and feelings, giving and gaining support from each other through local groups, phone support and online. The donation will support the running of the Bedford Group.
