Introduction to a great bookbinding technique
About this Event

In this wonderful afternoon of bookbinding, you will be introduced to the art of Japanese stab binding. This is a versatile technique that works perfectly for single pages and is therefore great for artists books, albums and journals.

During the class, you will learn how to prepare hard covers using gorgeous decorative paper and book cloth, before stitching a classic Japanese pattern from a selection of coloured thread.

At the end of the afternoon, you'll leave with a beautiful handmade book and the skills to make more!

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and also people with a little prior knowledge of book binding.

All materials and use of tools are included, together with lots of tea, coffee and homemade cake.

The workshop will be taught by multi-award winning professional bookbinder and experienced teacher, Mylyn McColl.

“Relaxed atmosphere, friendly hosts, excellent tutor and I get to go home with something handmade. Perfect!”

“Fab workshop with a great teacher. Thank you!”

Please note that the studio at Cass Art is upstairs and there is unfortunately no lift access.

In the event that the class is unable to go ahead due to the ongoing covid-19 virus situation, we will of course offer all participants the option of an alternative date or refund.
