Join JETAA NSW for a traditional Japanese calligraphy 書道"shodo" workshop with the talented calligraphy master Ohaku. General admission for this 2.5 hr creative and enthusiastic session is $10!No prior experience is required. Here at this workshop you will discover:
a) basic skills with various tools to do brush strokes and different styles
b) your imaginative works through writing your name in kanji and also your favourite characters
c) the works of Ohaku
Don't forget to bring with you:
d) aprons or spare clothes as the black ink can be difficult to wash off
e) possibly some newspapers to prevent your space from getting ink
The program will run roughly as:
1pm - 1.30pm: Introduction
1.30pm - 2pm: Practice
2pm - 3.30pm: Creating works
3pm - 4pm: Displaying work and photos
