What is Teen CERT?
The Teen CERT Program by San Jose Neighborhood Community Emergency Response Team (SJNCERT) is a FEMA approved training for youths (11-17) and scouts to ensure that they have the skills they may need to protect themselves and assist others in emergencies and natural and man-made disaster scenarios. The Teen CERT classes and exercises are taught by licensed and certified Emergency Response personnel, local first responders and educators, and coordinated by long-time community leaders and youth advocates.
SJN Teen CERT program is in collaboration with Boy Scouts of America (Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council) to provide BSA Troops and Scouts with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete a number of merit badges including Eagle required merit badges such as Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Citizenship in the Community. With the completion of the Teen CERT training, youths and scouts can:
· Help themselves and their families

· Help respond to real-life emergencies and disasters.
· Gain important lifesaving skills
· Learn to lead and guide others in major events
