On Saturday 25th Jan we will be running a community sewing day, turning fabric remnants & unwanted clothes into useful items for local charities, either for direct donation or for selling to raise funds. Our initial ideas are drawstring backpacks for the refugees at the Dignity Centre and shopping bags for the local foodbanks.
We have some fabric - clothing, curtains and upholstery remnants, but more always welcome, inspiring pieces preferred!
You don’t need to be an expert sewist but must be comfortable threading & using a machine. No under 18s, although there will be a little bit of flexibility for teenagers who can sew.
Volunteer experts needed too, particularly if you have a pattern and instructions to share.
We hope this will be the first of many social sewing sessions.
