What is Saturday Science Days?
Saturday Science Days is a program dedicated to educating and exposing young students to the world of STEM. During the event, students will be organized into small groups of 5 to 6 students and complete a series of hands-on experiments that coincide with that month’s theme. Every month will consist of a different theme, which means different experiments every month!

Where: City of Hope
1500 E. Duarte Road
Duarte, CA 91010
***Information about the exact location on campus will come after sign-ups. We do NOT currently host any of these events at any other City of Hope locations -- Duarte, CA only!
Who can participate?
Students between the ages of 8 and 13 years old are eligible to participate. Unfortunately, this is one of those rules we can't budge on. Sorry!
How can we participate?
- Register via the Eventbrite link by selecting the time that works best for you in our drop-down menu (Click on the orange box that says "Select a Time"). Please select EITHER the AM session OR the PM session.
- You will receive an email a week prior to the event to confirm that you will be attending. We have a long waitlist every month, so if you can't make it anymore, please let us know! Otherwise, we will confirm your attendance at this point.
- The week of the event, you will receive an email with important details regarding the upcoming Saturday Science event (directions and map will be sent at this point).
Will we need to bring our own materials?
We will provide all materials needed for the event, free of charge. All we ask is that you wear proper school-appropriate attire to the event, and are respectful towards our staff and station leaders/volunteers.
Is there anything else we should know?
Yes! Just a few things:
- A minimum of a high school-aged individual (friend, neighbor, family, guardian, etc.) will need to be present when dropping off/checking in your student(s).
- Our classes are 2 hours in length, please note which session you register for.
- We kindly ask that you are on time when dropping off and picking up your student(s) to prevent delays in class length.
- If you want to sit with friends or family, please get there early so you can claim your seat. We do not save seats and operate FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE. We kindly ask for your understanding.
- We will start the class as a large group and introduce our teachers and station leaders. Then, we will split up into small groups.
- Please note that we keep track of attendance and may forfeit seats when we notice repeat "no-shows". This keeps it fair for everyone.
Tickets sold out but I am still interested in participating. What do I do now?
Sorry to hear that! We would be more than happy to add you to our waitlist, so you can be notified if a seat becomes available. To be added, please send an email to Cynthia Ulloa ([email protected]) and include "Saturday Science Waitlist Request" in the subject line. She will send you the link to an online form so you can join the list.
***Please note that requests are granted in the order that we receive waitlist requests. You should only request to be added to the waitlist if the tickets are sold out on the Eventbrite page. The information that you provide will not be used to track your child in any way. We thank you for your understanding.
Can I volunteer?
Thank you for considering us, we appreciate all the help from our volunteers! If you are at least15 years old, you can contact us at [email protected] to be added to our volunteer interest list. In the subject line, add "Volunteering Inquiry" so we can add you to our email list. We send a monthly email with volunteer opportunities where you can sign up to be considered and we operate on a first-come, first-serve basis for our events.
