Haiku Master Class for students who have previously studied with Shehan Sensei.
Event Description
The Haiku Master Class is open to people that have attended one of the previous haiku classes offered by the Japanese Culture Center or approval of Shehan Sensei.
Each class will be an hour and a half.
$20 class fee only covers the one January session.
Class will start at 1:00pm
Please bring a notebook and writing instrument. Students will be given handouts and access to a class Dropbox to turn in for feedback.
This class will discuss topics such as Renga, PhotoHaiku, Karuta (Japanese poem game), individual critiques and assistance submitting haiku for publication, Haibun and various other topics.
This class will be meeting in person at the center, however, if you prefer to join virtually, please register with the Donation Ticket to request a Zoom link to join.
Each person will need to register in order to attend, and fill out a waiver form which can be digitally filled out and emailed to: [email protected]
Instructor Bio:
Sensei Seiyo is the leader of the Chicago Keikokai of Meifu Shinkage Ryu style of Japanese Weapons at Japanese Culture Center - 日本文化会館, Haiku Evangelist for the Haiku Society of America, member of the British Haiku Society, and contributor to the International Haiku Association and lay Buddhist chaplain at the Jesse Brown VA Hospital.
