Rock Run Rookery is a must stop in Will County for any winter birder! Not only does it boast a stopover for migrating Bald Eagles, but the lake rarely completely freezes which means fishing is still available for many different species of waterfowl and gulls. Winter song birds such as American Tree Sparrow, Brown Creepers, and various finches can also be seen. Please dress appropriately (hats, gloves, warm coat, waterproof boots):we will be walking close to a mile, the wind can be harsh, and the trail may be covered in snow. Binoculars and scopes will be extremely helpful to view distant waterfowl.
We will meet at 9am near the start of the trail to the boat launch.
Free and open to the public. No registration required. Any questions can be emailed to WCAS Field Trip Chair Kara Morales at karamorales727 @gmail.com
