Happy 250th America! To celebrate the anniversary year, the Augusta Museum of History is kicking off the Brown Bag Lecture Series with a Revolutionary Bang! Local historian and relative to George Galphin and John Milledge, Milledge Murray will share his incredible family history with the audience. Topics will include, Galphin and the Revolutionary trading post at Silver Bluff, the town of Hamburg and the doctors in the family, and Georgia Representative, Governor and Senator John Milledge. This is a story you don't want to miss.The Brown Bag History Lecture Series is presented monthly by the Augusta Museum of History and is an ideal lunchtime break for downtown professionals, retirees, and students. The lectures are free to Museum members and $5 for non-members, currently no registration required.
Participants may bring a lunch to enjoy in the Museum Rotunda from 11:30am to 12:30pm and the AMH will provide water, hot coffee and a dessert. The lecture takes place in the History Theater at 12:30pm with a short Q&A following. The recorded sessions are available on the AMH YouTube channel and shared on social media.
In 2026 there are more family stories being shared! The oral histories from families in the CSRA was well received in 2025 and these recordings are a great addition to the AMH permanent collection. In 2026 the Museum will host speakers who's families have shaped the CSRA's history, culture, and businesses.
