Join Jandamarra, for an in depth discussion about his current work "One heart, One people, One mob" at ART POST on view from 12 November - 7 December.Jandamarra is an Australian Aboriginal artist of Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Warung descent, is dedicated to bridging the gap between Aboriginal and mainstream Australia through his art. He creates visual narratives that speak about walking together, learning from each other and coming together.
Predominantly painting in both acrylic and oil, Jandamarra moves through a variety of different styles; from Hyperrealism through to multi coloured portraits and ones created entirely of traditional style dots. His sensitive colourful work beautifully merges a contemporary portraiture style with traditional Aboriginal painting techniques.
His work reflects stories of triumph over tragedy, the innocence, the unbridled expression of the human spirit. Especially when it comes to the liberation or emancipation of the human spirit from circumstances that normally serve to oppress or drain the life from it.
