Join the Outdoor Skills Academy for this in-depth ice fishing experience designed to teach anglers of all skill levels how to succeed on the ice this winter. We’ll focus on techniques for panfish, walleye and pike.This class includes three parts:
-->Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. (via Zoom): Orientation session covering class materials, safety and equipment checklist.
-->Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. (via Zoom): Q&A session and review of ice conditions, with time for preparation before hitting the ice.
-->Jan. 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Hands-on ice fishing session at Camp Torenta on Lake Mitchell, where students will rotate through learning stations before practicing independently using the skills learned.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Cost is $25, which includes a take-home gift and bait. A limited quantity of loaner rods will be available.
To register for this class, go to Michigan.gov/DNRLicenses and click on the "Purchase a license" button. Sign in (using either a username and password or your ID and birthdate), and find the class under the Outdoor Skills Academy tab.
