The JAMES SUGGS QUINTET pays tribute to the legendary Miles Davis in the opening show of New Tampa Jazz Nights, a concert series presented by the Tampa Jazz Club and the New Tampa Performing Arts Center.
This much-anticipated event takes place on Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m., at the beautiful New Tampa PAC, 8550 Hunters Village Road, now beginning it’s second year.
James Suggs developed the Miles Tribute concept in 2012, while living in Buenos Aires, and it’s become a great favorite during the past decade as James has become a leading figure in the Bay Area jazz scene. The concert’s focus is on Miles’ ‘classic’ period of the 1950s-60s, with selections drawn from ‘Someday My Prince Will Come,’ ‘Milestones,’ and the iconic ‘Kind of Blue.’
And the band could not be better, with the trumpeter joined by saxophonist Jeremy Carter, along with the rhythm section known as La Lucha: pianist John O’Leary, bassist Alejandro Arenas, and drummer Mark Feinman.
