About The Artist : JAMES PATRICK MORGAN
Beginnings of a Budding Musician
Musically gifted with a hip and soulful voice, James Patrick Morgan is sure to captivate a vast audience. Morgan was born in Athens, Georgia and finished high school in Walton County just off the southeastern border of Gwinnett. He picked up a guitar for the first time his senior year of high school, never thinking once about becoming a musician. He passively played guitar in courtyards while in college and it wasn’t until he won the Sony Southeast Music Competition in 2010 that he began to see his career unfold in front of him. Being a local guy he began to develop his fan base when he played at Cinco Mexican Cantina in Suwanee.
The Music
Morgan began writing music in his late teens, releasing his first album in 2012. His latest single “When I’m in Town,” was released this past September, and it’s obvious that his career is on a roll. When asked if “When I’m in Town” has to do with being back in Georgia, he happily responds that his “heart belongs to Georgia” and the song is about an artist dealing with the struggle of constant travel and being away from family and friends, but “you have to make every moment count when you’re in town.” “When I’m in Town” is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music. Be on the lookout for his next single “Vibe.”
Style
Strong on groove and strong on guitars, Morgan’s music has been classified as both rock, pop and alternative. It’s easy to see how all of those classifications fit his musical style due to much inspiration from Justin Timberlake and John Mayer. If you ask him where he believes he falls genre wise, he will tell you that “at the end of the day I just want people to fall in love with my voice.” Sometimes he can have a soulful voice and sometimes rock out, but sometimes he might have a Bob Seger feel and this all depends on the audience. He loves to perform and will proudly tell you that he “loves the studio, but would rather be in front of a crowd.”
