Groove Den is the collaborative brainchild of James Morton, a heavyweight in Bristol's music scene. It delivers a fresh sound characterised by groove, soul, and musical innovation. Drawing on a diverse array of musical styles, including jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul, and rock, the unifying elements are groove and feel. James, one of the most exciting saxophonists of his generation, has performed and recorded with some of the music industry's most prolific artists, including Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and The New JB’s, George Clinton, The Herbaliser, Kasabian, Pendulum, and the NPG Horns (Prince), among others. He has also released two critically acclaimed albums: "The Kid" and "Don’t You Worry ‘Bout That."
Dennis Rollins MBE is an internationally celebrated trombone player whose talents have been lent to the world’s leading artists including Macao Parker, Monty Alexander, Courtney Pine, Baba Maal, Jamiroquai to name a few. Dennis has won several awards including Parliamentary Jazz Awards, BBC Jazz Awards, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz awards. James and Dennis also played together in Pee Wee Ellis’s Funk Assembly band and have an electric connection on stage.
On guitar, Alex Hutchings has been captivating international audiences with his distinctive, heartfelt playing and technical brilliance for over a decade. His recent accomplishments include a 150-date world tour with Steven Wilson (formerly of Porcupine Tree), which culminated in three nights at The Royal Albert Hall, released on DVD. Alex has also composed music for the BBC and has become a YouTube sensation, boasting nearly 100,000 followers on his channel.
The group's lineup is rounded out by powerhouse drummer Francesco Medolia, the rhythmic backbone of funk supergroup Incognito, and Swedish funk and soul maestro Anders Olinder on Hammond Organ, known for his work with Glen Hughes and Pee Wee Ellis.
Support comes from Guernsey-born singer-songwriter Eloise Fabbri, a vocal powerhouse known for her soulful, sultry tones and genre-defying writing style.
Inspired by legends like Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu, Eloise blends jazz, soul and pop into her own distinctive, eclectic sound. Her songs combine captivating melodies with lyrical depth, hip-hop rhythms with latin undertones and hypnotic vocals with spicy slices of spoken word.
Since releasing her debut single ‘Beauty’ back in 2020, Eloise earned a BMA (Birmingham Music Award) nomination for Best Jazz Artist which has since led her to release a continuous stream of genre- bending music. Her latest release, ‘Patterns EP’ showcases her bold artistry and has received national airplay on BBC Introducing West Midlands, Channel Islands & Brum Radio. Praised for her originality, Eloise Fabbri is carving her path as an artist who transcends traditional boundaries, delivering music that is as meaningful as it is mesmerizing.
