He has also written widely on the history of warfare, propaganda, and “fake news” for leading history magazines.
📖 His latest book, Rogue Agent, is the first full biography of Sir Robert Bruce Lockhart (1887–1970) — the diplomat, intelligence agent, conspirator, journalist and propagandist who played a key role in both world wars. Lockhart charmed everyone from Leon Trotsky to Anthony Eden, inspired Lord Beaverbrook to suggest he “could well have been prime minister,” and yet died almost forgotten and destitute.
Part thriller, part forgotten history, Rogue Agent shines a light on Lockhart’s role in the Bolshevik plot, his leadership of Britain’s secret Political Warfare Executive, and his hedonistic lifestyle that left him in perpetual debt.
