James Taylor and Billy Joel were mainstays on the radio as multifaceted performer Clay Mottley grew up. From piano lessons as a kid before switching to guitar, Taylor and Joel wrote so many songs that you felt like you HAD to learn to play if you wanted to be considered a real musician! In fact, “Sweet Baby James” was the first song he taught himself to play on guitar. These two prolific songwriters kept getting better with age. Not only were they prolific, their later songs are just as amazing as their early work, making the stories behind these songs all the better.
With “James & Joel,” Mottley takes the audience through the stories behind their biggest hits (as well as his favorite deep cuts) from the artists’ own words, and presents his own take on the timeless classics.
