Our Arts@Averett series kicks off with the theatre department’s production of “James and the Giant Peach” on Sept. 24-26 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at https://averett.booktix.com/dept/main/e/JGP or in-person at the box office.
When James is sent by his aunts to cut down an old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a giant peach. With this, an incredible adventure begins when he meets human-sized insects with big personalities inside the peach. As the peach rolls into the ocean, the group begins to face obstacles such as hunger, sharks and arguments. Due to James and his clever thinking, the group learns to work together like a family. Although successful, the group is met with a surprising twist at the Empire State Building.
