🔥 We are SO excited to have @jaimeeelliott in the house for 3rd Thursday Jamaican Dancehall. Music starts at 6:30 and class from 7:00-8:30.
This class is incredibily fun, welcoming, and completely free (though donations are welcomed). It's a class you can dip your toes in and also hang back and watch.
Dancehall is a vibrant and expressive street style born from the heart of Jamaican culture. It reflects everyday life, community energy, and raw emotion—and it’s constantly evolving through new music, steps, and creators on the island. Rooted in rhythm, attitude, and storytelling, dancehall is more than just movement—it’s a whole vibe.
Class Format
This beginner-friendly class starts with a warm-up and dynamic stretching to get your body ready to move. From there, Jaimee will break down individual dancehall steps created by Jamaican choreographers and street dancers—steps she learned firsthand during her regular training trips to Jamaica. These aren’t just “inspired by”—they are authentic movements brought back directly from the source, taught with respect to their creators and cultural context.
You’ll learn mid-school and new-school steps while building confidence, rhythm, and your own expressive style. Whether you're new to dance or just want to connect deeper to the dancehall culture, this class is all about feeling the music, moving with intention, and catching a real vibe together.
Come ready to move, learn, and celebrate the power of Jamaican dance!
