Jake’s Gift is a moving, funny, and unforgettable play that has touched audiences of all ages across Canada and beyond. This multi-award-winning one-woman show follows Jake, a Canadian World War II veteran, as he returns to Normandy, France, for the first time since the war. His journey takes an unexpected turn when he meets Isabelle, a spirited 10-year-old from the local village. Through her curiosity and kindness, Isabelle helps Jake confront his past, especially the loss of his eldest brother, Chester, a promising young musician who never made it home.
At its core, Jake’s Gift is about remembrance, resilience, and the impact of history on generations to come. Whether you’re 10 or 100, this touching story will make you laugh, reflect, and leave with a renewed appreciation for the sacrifices of those who came before us.
Since 2007, Jake’s Gift has been performed in over 250 communities across Canada and internationally, including England, Washington State, and Normandy, France.
