A small Scandinavian Saskatchewan farming settlement is the natural breeding ground for this old soul musician who’s steeped in the traditions of ‘50s rockabilly, bluegrass and old-time music. A self-taught retro multi-instrumentalist, golden-voiced songwriter and road warrior, Vaadeland instantly transforms from modern-day life into a simpler 1950s age. From touching, world-weary ballads to instant dance swing classics, he and his prairie tumbleweed band’s music and storytelling evoke the best of a bygone era with an intimate, fresh urgency. Vaadeland lives and breathes his character with vintage suits, corny jokes, banjo duels and stand-up bass dance moves.
